A seamless concept-to-animation project for this iconic British institution – which opens with a ‘positive’ of climate change…
The Met Office is a household name, but few know just how much this British institution offers. One of its key areas of expertise is climate change – its consultancy services are valued around the world when it comes to long term strategic planning.
This animation was created with long-term agency partner Robson Dowry, as part of the process to consolidate its coveted place on the Met Office design roster. It showcases the Met Office’s consultancy services, illustrating how this household name is an expert on more than just weather.
“Britain is getting warmer!” Well, yes. For instantaneous cut through, we started with a contentious positive. This catches eyes and engages brains – then, with audience engaged – we can move on to tell the more complex story.
The unusual split screen format and clean art direction helped us highlight the challenges global warming presents with elegance and wit. By being a little more human and adding a little humour, a topic that can be preachy – let’s be honest – becomes more more accessible and engaging. It’s a fine balance, but a wry visual twist goes a long way to help a hard-hitting message resonate.
